UN Rights Chief Volker Türk Wins Second Term Despite US and Israeli Opposition

Austrian lawyer Volker Türk has won a second four-year term as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, becoming the first person to complete two full terms since the post was established. His reappointment came despite opposition from the United States and Israel. Türk has held the position since 2022.
