New Images Reveal Spectral Properties of the M87 Black Hole

Researchers from the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, working with international collaborators, conducted the first spatially resolved dual-frequency spectral study of the M87 black hole. The study used 2018 observations from the Event Horizon Telescope and the Global Millimeter VLBI Array. The findings shed new light on the structure and properties of the black hole at the heart of the M87 galaxy.
