Madrid authorities have declared it the "worst fire in the history of the region" as firefighters struggle to contain wildfires around the Spanish capital. French firefighters are simultaneously battling a blaze advancing towards Bordeaux. More than 140,000 people have been evacuated across Spain and France combined.
