Glasgow Commonwealth Games day one: shirtless volunteer saves the pool
On day one of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, a volunteer stole the show by ripping off his T-shirt and diving into the water without goggles to fix a broken lane rope after other volunteers failed using large nets. After a 10-minute delay, Adam Ramsay-Peaty returned to race and won his heat in the 100m breaststroke at Tollcross International Swimming Centre. The Games run for 10 days despite the absence of several big-name stars.
