Bizarre CRISPR Enzyme Kills Cancer Cells by Shredding Their DNA

Researchers have identified a CRISPR-based enzyme capable of killing cancer cells by shredding their DNA. Early tests suggest the protein can be precisely aimed at targets carrying tumour-causing mutations. The findings were published in Nature on 24 July 2026.
