EU delays Copernicus satellite images of Strait of Hormuz region by 24 hours at US request

The EU Council decided on 13 July to delay by 24 hours the release of Copernicus satellite imagery covering the Gulf of Oman and shipping lanes near the Strait of Hormuz, covering Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 data. The move responds to a US government request made on 26 May and coincides with the Trump administration intensifying its military campaign against Iran. The decision marks an unusual departure from the Copernicus programme's free and open data policy.
