Kozo Okamoto, Japanese militant behind 1972 Tel Aviv airport attack, dies in Lebanon aged 78
Kozo Okamoto, the sole survivor of the 1972 Lod Airport attack in Tel Aviv, has died in Lebanon aged 78. He was a member of the left-wing Japanese Red Army, which was aligned with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Twenty-four people were killed in the attack; Okamoto was the only one of the three militants to survive.
