City must pay 3.5m złoty tree-felling fee — court rejects drought and beaver defence
A court ruled that a city must pay a 3.5 million złoty fee for felling trees, even though most replacement plantings failed to survive due to drought, wild animals and an excess of beavers. The court found that such circumstances do not absolve the obligated party from payment. The ruling means municipalities cannot rely on natural causes to escape fees for failed replacement plantings.
