Jupiter-Sized Object Orbiting a Brown Dwarf Defies Planetary Classification

Researchers have discovered an object estimated to be roughly as massive as Jupiter that orbits a brown dwarf — a so-called "failed star" — which itself circles a small star. The three-body system challenges existing definitions of planets and moons. Scientists are provisionally calling the puzzling body an "exosatellite," as it fits no established astronomical category.
