Wildfires in Spain and France Force Evacuation of Over 63,000 People

Spain declared a state of emergency in the autonomous community of Madrid and ordered the evacuation of more than 20,000 people due to severe wildfires. In southwestern France, 43,000 people were evacuated. Both Madrid and Paris requested activation of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
