US battling at least four simultaneous cyclosporiasis parasite outbreaks

US federal health officials have reported at least four simultaneous active outbreaks of cyclosporiasis, a parasitic illness caused by Cyclospora cayetanensis that triggers severe diarrhoea. Authorities are working to trace the sources of the separate outbreaks as the situation continues to develop.
