Nanoplastics in drinking water may hamper pipe disinfection

A study published in the journal "Water Research" found that nanoplastics in drinking water can strengthen bacterial biofilm that forms inside water supply networks. This reinforced biofilm makes disinfectants less effective, potentially reducing the safety of tap water reaching homes.
