Mars Express captures metallic-looking waves inside an ancient Martian crater

ESA's Mars Express orbiter has captured a striking image of what appear to be metallic waves rolling across the floor of a large ancient impact crater on Mars. Closer inspection reveals they are not liquid metal or alien structures, but a result of Mars' complex environment — likely interactions between wind, dust and terrain. The image highlights that the Red Planet still holds visual surprises despite its well-studied oxidised surface.
