Record US cyclosporiasis outbreak tops 12,000 cases across 40 states

The United States is experiencing the largest known outbreak of cyclosporiasis, a parasitic illness causing explosive diarrhea, with more than 12,000 cases reported across 40 states. The outbreak has now spread to nine additional states as the CDC struggles to contain it. Cyclosporiasis is caused by the Cyclospora parasite, typically linked to contaminated food.
