Florida students unearth intact 400-year-old pot from Spanish colonial mission site
Archaeology students at the University of Florida discovered a rare, intact ceramic pot estimated to be around 400 years old at the site of Mission San Francisco de Potano, established in 1606 during Spanish rule of Florida. The vessel offers insight into the conflicts and interactions between Indigenous peoples, Spanish colonisers and English powers in the region. Its intact condition makes it an exceptionally rare find.
