Russian factory in Kaliningrad copies BMW SUVs without a licence

After BMW officially pulled out of Russia in March 2022, its former local partner Avtotor in Kaliningrad began producing large SUVs modelled on BMW vehicles without any official licence. The factory's explanation for the practice is widely described as implausible. It is another example of Russia's automotive industry cloning Western brands following sanctions.
