Personalised gene therapy relieves severe epilepsy in two boys

Scientists used personalised gene therapy on two boys with severe epilepsy, achieving significant relief from their condition. Switching off one copy of a gene also allowed one of the children to walk independently for the first time. The findings were published in the journal Nature on 24 July 2026.
