Landmark transplant: pig kidneys stored at -4°C successfully transplanted

Scientists have developed a device that keeps organs at -4°C (25°F) without forming ice, which previously caused tissue damage. In tests on pigs, kidneys stored in the device for several days were successfully transplanted. The breakthrough could dramatically extend how long donor organs remain viable and increase the number of successful transplants.
