UN urges evacuation of 6,000 sailors trapped in Strait of Hormuz

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Tuerk called on Friday for the protection and evacuation of around 6,000 sailors stranded on approximately 400 vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The ships cannot safely leave the area due to the ongoing US-Iran conflict. The situation poses a serious humanitarian risk to the commercial shipping crews.
