Ousted Turkish opposition chief launches new party to challenge Erdoğan

Özgür Özel, the deposed leader of Turkey's main opposition party CHP, has formed a new political party to challenge President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. After being removed from the CHP leadership, Özel chose to pursue an independent political path. The new formation is intended as a fresh opposition alternative to Erdoğan's ruling AKP party.
