France wildfires: 40,000 evacuated from Cap Ferret peninsula, 10,000 hectares burned

Wildfires sweeping south-west France have forced the evacuation of more than 40,000 people from the popular tourist destination of Cap Ferret peninsula. More than 10,000 hectares have already burned. Firefighting operations are ongoing across the region.
