DeChambeau: Two-Shot Penalty at The Open Cost Me a Shot at the Claret Jug
Bryson DeChambeau believes a retrospective two-shot penalty at The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale cost him a real chance at the Claret Jug. The 32-year-old was penalised for standing on and flattening long grass during his backswing at the 5th hole, changing his second-round score from 66 to 68. DeChambeau had threatened to withdraw from the tournament in protest over the ruling.
