Urban Mirabelle Plums Rotting in Poland While Prized Abroad

Every summer, thousands of mirabelle plums ripen on urban trees across Poland and fall to the ground wasted, as residents worry about pollution or question whether harvesting them is even legal. In countries such as France, mirabelles are highly prized and widely used for jams, liqueurs and desserts. Fruit from trees away from busy roads is generally safe to eat and legal to pick.
