Parsec: the distance unit that tripped up Star Wars

A parsec is a unit of distance — not time — equal to roughly 3.26 light-years or about 30.9 trillion kilometres. The unit has been a source of debate among Star Wars fans since 1977, when Han Solo boasted the Millennium Falcon completed the Kessel Run in "less than 12 parsecs," wrongly implying it measured speed. A parsec is formally defined as the distance at which an object shows a heliocentric parallax of one arc second.
