7,000 taxi firms vanished since 2019 as ride-hailing apps take over

Around 7,000 taxi companies have disappeared from the Polish market since 2019, including approximately 1,200 deregistered in just the first half of 2026. Most closures involve sole traders, though larger taxi firms are also shutting down. Ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Bolt are steadily capturing a growing share of the market.
