VW slashes forecasts as EV sales collapse in US and China

Volkswagen halted production of its flagship EV in the United States, saw sales collapse in China, and absorbed billions in US tariff costs in the first half of 2026. Management has cut full-year financial forecasts. The company is closing unprofitable projects, planning asset sales and pivoting to hybrid vehicles to fund its transformation.
