Polish scientists measure temperature with light at extreme −268°C
Polish scientists have developed a method for calibrating thermometers at temperatures near absolute zero (−268°C) using light. At such extreme conditions, conventional methods for verifying measurement accuracy fail. The new optical approach could have applications in quantum physics and cryogenics.
