11-year-old Bodhana Sivanandan breaks Judit Polgar's 38-year-old age record

English chess prodigy Bodhana Sivanandan, 11, from Harrow defeated French grandmaster Marc'Andria Maurizzi (rated 2628, reigning French champion and 2023 world under-20 champion) in round one of the Dole Trophy in Aix-en-Provence. The result sets a new world age record for the youngest girl to beat a grandmaster rated above 2600, surpassing a mark set by Judit Polgar 38 years ago. Maurizzi held an advantage for 27 moves before blundering into a tactic that cost him his queen.
