Carapaz Wins Stage 18 Solo, Schmid and Jorgenson Cross 45 Seconds Back

Ecuador's Richard Carapaz won Stage 18 in a solo breakaway, attacking decisively in the closing kilometres to leave all rivals behind. Switzerland's Mauro Schmid finished second and American Matteo Jorgenson third, both 45 seconds adrift. Riders now face another mountain stage with more than 3,000 metres of elevation gain.
