Switching gas stove to electric cuts asthma hospital admissions by 70%, US study finds

A US study by MetroHealth in Ohio found that replacing gas stoves with electric ones produced a 70% drop in hospital admissions and absences from work or school among people with poorly controlled asthma. The study, launched in December 2024 and designed for 1,200 participants near Cleveland, was cut short after the Trump administration terminated its funding. Experts described the effect as "very large" and comparable to some asthma medications.
