Gironde wildfire: 4,800 hectares burn, 23,000 people evacuated

A forest fire in the Gironde department of south-western France has spread across 4,800 hectares. Around 800 firefighters are defending the town of Lege-Cap-Ferret, while authorities have preventively evacuated nearly 23,000 residents and tourists. Several homes have already burned down.
