Man accused of killing Melbourne teen Isla Bell fails to have final charge dropped
Marat Ganiev, 55, has failed in court to have the final charge against him — perverting the course of justice — permanently dismissed in connection with the death of 19-year-old Melbourne woman Isla Bell. He was initially charged with her murder after her remains were found in a bag at a Dandenong rubbish tip on 20 November 2024, roughly six weeks after the night police believe she died. The murder charge was dropped earlier, but the remaining charge will proceed.
