Spain wildfires: State of emergency declared near Madrid and Ávila province

Spanish authorities declared a state of emergency in the autonomous community of Madrid and the neighbouring province of Ávila on the night of 24–25 July, as large wildfires raged across central Spain. The fires pose a serious threat to surrounding towns and have triggered a major emergency response.
