Spin-reversing comet may be heading for self-destruction

Scientists have identified a comet that has reversed its spin direction — an extremely rare phenomenon that may signal the object is on the path to self-destruction. Comets are considered relics of the solar system's formation around 4.6 billion years ago. As they approach the Sun, their icy cores evaporate and produce the distinctive bright tails visible from Earth.
