Nvidia Cools AI Servers with Hot Water, Saving Millions of Gallons Annually

Nvidia's Rubin-generation AI servers use a closed liquid cooling loop where coolant enters at up to 45°C and exits at around 55°C — hotter than a typical hot tub — with no performance penalty. The temperature gradient still allows heat transfer from chips to coolant. The system cuts water consumption to near zero, saving roughly 2.6 million gallons per megawatt annually, and could save a 50MW data centre over $4 million per year.
