White House Pushes Back Against Congress's Guardrails on Trump-Class Battleship

The White House has formally opposed a congressional move to halt work on the nuclear-powered Trump-class battleship until the US Navy certifies that key weapon systems are "sufficiently mature." The House Armed Services Committee had demanded a Navy report on steps to prevent the battleship program from worsening delays on aircraft carriers and submarines. The White House's Office of Management and Budget issued its objection as part of its Statement of Administration Policy on the FY2027 National Defense Authorization Act.
