Louvre's Apollo Gallery reopens months after crown jewels heist
The Apollo Gallery at the Louvre has reopened to the public months after burglars stole the crown jewels on display there. The gilded hall was conceived by Louis XIV more than 360 years ago as a royal reception room. Museum officials hope visitors will appreciate the gallery's rich history and ornamentation even in the absence of the stolen jewels.
