AMD exec: CUDA is now a "non-event" as AI firms code at higher abstraction levels

AMD's corporate VP and data centre GPU GM Andrew Dieckman said at an Advancing AI briefing that CUDA is now a "non-event" for many of AMD's major customers. He argued that companies are programming at higher levels of abstraction using various serving frameworks, making CUDA less of a competitive moat for Nvidia. Dieckman also credited AI agents for helping customers optimise code for AMD hardware, calling it a 2026 phenomenon.
