Nawrocki defends veto of "closest person" law: "We don't want to be deceived"
President Karol Nawrocki explained his veto of the "closest person" status bill at a meeting with residents of Dębica. He stated: "We want to help, but we don't want to deceive or be deceived," implying the law could be exploited beyond its stated purpose. Nawrocki also accused the government of taking the people the bill was meant to help "hostage," and criticised the cabinet's approach.
