'Annihilation' author VanderMeer lands seven-figure deal for new four-book series

Farrar, Straus and Giroux has acquired Jeff VanderMeer's new four-book series "The Strange Architect" in a seven-figure deal. The first volume, "How to Be Free," is set for winter 2029. It marks VanderMeer's first new book project since his acclaimed "Southern Reach" trilogy, which was adapted into the film "Annihilation."
