Kimi K3 by Moonshot AI rivals GPT and Fable 5 — and it's free

Chinese AI startup Moonshot AI is releasing Kimi K3, a model it claims matches GPT-5.6 and Fable 5 in performance. It will be free to use and deployable on private infrastructure, not just via API. However, running it requires a powerful computing cluster — a single RTX 5090 GPU falls well short of what's needed.
