EU fines Google €890 million for breaching Digital Markets Act

The European Union fined Google a total of €890 million on Thursday for breaching the Digital Markets Act (DMA), ordering the company to change how it ranks competitors in search results and manages its app store. The penalty follows a two-year investigation and makes Google the third major company sanctioned under the DMA, which came into force three years ago. Washington has criticised the regulation as discriminatory, since most targeted companies are American.
