Removing Huawei and ZTE From EU Telecom Networks Could Cost €40 Billion

Removing vendors deemed risky — primarily Huawei and ZTE — from European telecom networks could cost operators up to €40 billion, four times more than earlier estimates, according to GSMA Intelligence. The higher costs stem from replacing installed equipment and then paying premium prices for hardware once competition among suppliers is reduced. The move is intended to strengthen the security of European network infrastructure.
