Bronx ultramarathon inspired by cult 1979 film "The Warriors"

Around 100 runners dressed as gang members gathered at 1 a.m. in an abandoned Bronx stadium in Van Cortlandt Park last weekend for the annual Warriors UltraRun. The unsanctioned underground race is inspired by Walter Hill's 1979 cult film "The Warriors." Participants swapped weapons for running vests, gels and electrolytes for the nighttime event.
