Honda to pause Civic Si and Integra manual production after 2026 model year
A leaked notice to workers at Honda's Ontario plant indicates the automaker plans to "pause" production of the Civic Si and Acura Integra A-Spec Tech with six-speed manual gearboxes after the 2026 model year. The stated reason is "business conditions" related to EPA regulations for model year 2027. Both cars share a 200 hp turbocharged 1.5-litre engine paired with the six-speed manual.

Leaked email to Ontario plant employees suggests Civic Si and Integra manuals are being axed.
Text says production “pause” is due to “business conditions” surrounding EPA regs for MY27.
Civic Si and Integra A-Spec Tech use same 200 hp, turbo’d 1.5 and six-speed manual gearbox.
Manual transmission fans might want to hold onto their shift knobs a little tighter for this news about another pair of fallen heroes. A leaked Honda plant notice circulating online suggests the automaker plans to “pause” production of the Civic Si and Acura Integra A-Spec Tech with six-speed manuals at the end of the 2026 model year.

According to the document posted on social media and dated Jul 22, the decision is tied to changing circumstances surrounding EPA regulations needed to certify 2027 model-year vehicles and beyond. Honda is reportedly dropping trims that combine its turbocharged 200 hp (203 PS) 1.5-liter engine with a six-speed manual gearbox.

That decision affects two of the last genuinely attainable, manual-shift enthusiast cars left on sale in America, both built at the Honda Canada Manufacturing (HCM) plant in Alliston, Ontario. The Civic Si currently starts at $32,690 including destination in the US, while the Integra A-Spec Tech with the manual transmission comes in at $40,495.

}
});
The notice says production volume at HCM won’t take a hit, since other trims will slot into the line where the discontinued variants were. Honda also plans to revisit the decision at some unspecified point down the road.
“As EPA regulations become clear, Honda will assess how best to proceed with the impacted trims,” the email says, suggesting there’s a chance they might be brought back to life.
What About The Civic Type R?
What the the email doesn’t say – and in this case we’re hoping no news is good news – is whether the Civic Type R and its Integra Type S brother might also come under fire from EPA regulations. The pair is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and only available with a six-speed manual.
The Type R, remember, has already been dropped in Europe due to tightening Euro emissions regulations, although those rules are not linked to US legislation. We’ve contacted Honda for clarification on the Si and Integra A-spec and to determine whether the Type R remains part of the long-term plan, and will update the story when we hear back.

}
});
If the report proves accurate, it would mark another setback for drivers who still enjoy doing their own shifting. Honda certainly wouldn’t be the first automaker to wave goodbye to a manual in the US this year. Volkswagen recently removed the stick-shift option from the Jetta GLI , following similar moves involving the Golf GTI and Golf R, citing slow sales.
