MVRDV wins contest to build eco landmark 'Shift Embassy' in Rotterdam

Dutch architecture firm MVRDV has won a competition to design the first so-called Shift Embassy — a landmark building for a new district being developed on the south bank of the Old Meuse in Rotterdam, on the site of former city docks. The structure is being billed as an ecological phenomenon and a piece of unconventional architecture comparable to Gaudí's works in Barcelona. It forms part of a broader regeneration of post-industrial land.
