International Cinema Union slams EU approval of Paramount-Warner Bros. merger as too narrow

The International Union of Cinemas (UNIC), representing the European theatre industry across 39 territories, has criticised the European Commission's approval of the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger. The organisation said the EC's decision was based on "too narrow a scope." While UNIC welcomed the EC's requirement for Paramount to cancel certain film distribution agreements, it deemed the overall ruling insufficient to protect European cinemas.
