Artemis II pilot: land near the lunar equator, not the south pole

Artemis II pilot Victor Glover argued on July 21 at NASA's Ames Research Center that future moon landings should target the lunar equator rather than the south pole. He said equatorial sites offer safer conditions — no risk of losing sunlight — and allow orbits that enable rapid emergency returns to Earth. Glover urged NASA to work its way toward the south pole gradually rather than attempting it as the first landing destination.
