Women Are Tracking Their Luteal Phase – and the American Right Has Seized on It

Growing numbers of American women are learning about the luteal phase — the roughly 14 days between ovulation and menstruation marked by irritability, bloating and cravings. The right-wing MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) movement has co-opted the concept, framing menstrual awareness in religious and pronatalist terms. Health coach Emily Rae Detrick, featured on a popular MAHA podcast, argues that the luteal phase reflects "the way God created us" and promotes a mission to "make America fertile again."
