Two Russian Men Jailed in Angola for Terrorism and Spying — 8 and 11 Years Each
An Angolan court convicted two Russian nationals — Lev Lakshtanov and Igor Ratchin — of terrorism and spying. They were accused of plotting a coup and helping organise deadly fuel-price demonstrations in Angola last year. Lakshtanov was sentenced to eight years in prison and Ratchin to eleven. Both denied the charges, saying they were in Angola for cultural and business purposes.
